Runners! On your mark, get set, GO! What an adrenaline rush you get while participating in a half or full marathon with hundreds of people. The staff at AFAS has the pleasure to be a part of the 2012 Savannah Rock n Roll Marathon!
This year the Savannah Rock n Roll Marathon will take place on November 3, 2012. You can either participate as a half-marathon runner or a marathon runner. Unlike other marathons, the Rock n Roll series is not about your time, it's about having fun! Throughout the course there will be bands playing live music, from The Blues and Jazz to Punk Rock and everything in between! The race will being at 8:00AM and the course start line will be at Bay and Bull St. with the finish line at Forsyth Park. Check out the course map.
Some of our staff has already began to train and prep for the half- and full marathon. So who does our team include? Training for the half marathon are Dr.Melissa Robitaille, Dr. Todd Newsom, Dr. Christin Runkel, and Community Relations Liaison Madeline Thomas. Medical Billing Specialist Kimberly Darling is pushing through to train for the FULL marathon! Our newest addition to the practice, Dr. Elizabeth Putnam, will be helping and attending to runners at the medical tent.
We will keep you updated and ready for the race by guiding you with helpful information like wearing the right gear, pre-training/training, cross-training, stretching, nutrition, hydration, resting techniques, injury prevention, gear checks, and more!
