 What are orthotics?

-Orthotics are a device that slip into your shoes that fix underlying misalignment issues that your feet are facing. Orthotics re-align your feet so that they are in proper alignment.

Will orthotics help with pain in the ankles, knees, hips, and or lower back?

-Yes, most likely, this misalignment causes undue stress on your feet and because of this you could be experiencing pain in other areas of your body like your ankles, knees, hips, and or lower back.

How are orthotics made?

You will be seated so your feet are non-weight bearing. We do this so that we can manually place your feet in its proper alignment. Our certified pedorthist will make a fiber glass molding of your foot, then send it off to be fabricated.

How long with the casting take?

The casting process takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

How long with it take to have the device made?

Orthotics usually take about 3 weeks to have fabricated, and then returned to us.

What if the device doesn’t fit or isn’t working properly?

You will receive a fitting of the device as well as a two week follow up to ensure that the device is working properly for you. If you are experiencing any discomfort we will make further modifications to make sure you are receiving maximum comfort.

What is the cost?

- The cost of the orthotics is $475. I know it may seem like a lot of money, but this truly is a wonderful investment. This device will last anywhere from 5 to 10 years. Orthotics are going to make living each day much easier on you and your feet. The day of the casting it will be $275.00. Once we have your orthotics ready for pick up you will then owe $200.

Does my insurance cover orthotics?

-It is Atlantic Foot and Ankle Specialists policy that ALL PATIENTS must pay for orthotics regardless of insurance coverage for the device. IF your insurance does cover the orthotics, and once we receive payment from your insurance company we WILL refund you the $475.00. Our billing specialists are always available to answer any questions you may have.

Are orthotics necessary for my foot pain?

You do not have to decide right away, but keep in mind the longer you put off fixing the underlying issue the longer you will experience pain. The pain may go away for a few days or the pain may even be off and on, BUT if the underlying foot cause is not corrected the chances of the pain coming back are high. This investment will make a difference in your life and you will be on the road to pain free living.
